Pratt Fine Arts is pleased to present Longleaf, a solo exhibition by Allen Ball. The exhibition brings together new and recent works spanning painting, sculpture, installation, and sound.
Ball’s practice investigates infrastructure, geology, and visibility within built environments.
Longleaf presents work drawn from towns, defunct phosphate mines, and remote hunting camps within cultivated pine forests of North Central Florida. Using materials such as dirt, clay, charcoal, ash, and found objects, the works examine landscapes shaped by extraction, settlement, and ecological disturbance.
Across the exhibition, surfaces and installations register the physical traces of human occupation, tire marks, burn scars, excavation, and erosion. These gestures reflect Ball’s ongoing interest in the ways human systems alter and reframe the land, producing landscapes that are at once natural and engineered.
